Automation Engineer
New opportunity for a Cork based Automation Engineer to join an industry leading automation solutions provider on a contract basis. This is a long term hourly rate contract to support a high profile project.
Responsibilities:
- The purpose of this role is to provide Automation Support in the form of Software design and commissioning as well as general Engineering support in the form of problem solving with respect to equipment development & improvement.
- The role will support operational activities in order to effectively meet the needs of an expanding, rapidly changing and competitive market.
- Ensure all work carried out, is in compliance with the required standards, conforming to company (CGMP).
- Support the development of automation documentation including process flow diagrams, support software design specification, automation test plans, and electrical sheets for automation projects working closely with the allocated project team.
- Ensure focus on the key principles of software quality - maintainability, dependability, efficiency & usability in terms of code structure, documentation, revision history, and storage.
- Review and recommend changes to machine design as per software requirements/implications.
- Responsible for completing automation tasks within budget and schedule.
- Reporting on all project activity ensuring an up-to-date project status is readily available.
- Authorised to carry out installations and to support the installation team, as required.
- Ensure all duties are carried out adhering to health and safety policy.
Education/Experience:
- 3-5 years' experience in automation engineering in a machine building environment
- 3-5 years' experience in an engineering role with exposure to numerous fields of engineering (experience with software development + experience with SCADA software development)
- Experience with Visual Basic (VBA or VB.Net) and a very strong Microsoft Application capabilities (especially data analysis and presentation using MS Excel)
- Experience in software development and in the design of Industrial Control Systems
- PLC programming in accordance with the machine functional specification AllenBradley Studio 5000
- Experience with Visio Logic, Unitronics PLC, and Epson Robots could be a plus.
- Strong skills with Visual Basic, ADO.net, Database, SQL,
- Experience in Electrical and Pneumatical systems
- Knowledge or experience in AutoCAD Electrical, machinery directives and safety regulations
- Be self-motivated, creative and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build networks at all levels and across internal and external cross-functional teams.
- Highly organised with a strong forward planning skill set and ability to be reactive when required.
- Be highly analytical with effective planning, organisational, presentation and strategic skills to perform in a demanding environment.
