Assistant Accountant
We are delighted to be working with our Cork City based client on this exclusive Assistant Accountant position.
This successful candidate will support the Financial Accountant in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. This role is essential for maintaining the day-to-day financial processes within the company. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements.
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Provide support in monitoring and analysing budget variances.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide general support to the finance team as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and other company information.
- Ensure reasonable care and attention to health, safety, and welfare for yourself and others, complying with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Required Competencies:
- Achievement Focused: Take personal responsibility for completing tasks accurately and on time, while maintaining high-quality standards. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and handle pressure to meet deadlines and targets.
- Analysis: Identify necessary data, process and interpret figures and business data accurately, with attention to detail.
- Communication: Clearly and accurately convey information to and from team members and the CFO. Exhibit strong listening skills.
Ideal Candidate:
- Accounting Technician or Part Qualified Accountant.
- Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role.
- Experience in a multinational company (desirable).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
