Job Description

Global investment bank seeks an Associate level Market Risk Analyst as part of its expanding Risk Systems Operations division,

Job Purpose
RISK Systems Operations is part of RISK Systems and provides to its clients a range of services and
products related to Market and Counterparty risk.
Service Transition, within RISK Systems Operations, plans and coordinate the resources to establish
successfully a new or changed service into production within the predicted cost, quality and time
estimates. It ensures that all parties adopt the common framework of standard re-usable processes
and supporting systems in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the integrated planning
and coordination activities. It also provides clear and comprehensive plans that enable the customer
and business change projects to align their activities with the Service Transition plans.

Given the strategic importance of the FRTB Programme, the team is being expanded in order to build-
up the capabilities for the new processes. This specific role is located within the RISK Service

Transition team and would focus on the FRTB Eligibility Tests although also involve other aspects of
FRTB such as the FRTB AIMA metrics and P&L explain.

The Responsibilities
Under FRTB, the use of the Internal Model will be determined at trading desk level, using two
eligibility tests i) P&L Attribution test (PLAT) and ii) Back-testing. Failing desks are excluded from the
market risk internal model and must be capitalised with the standardised approach.
The PLAT requires minimal difference between the P&L explain derived from the risk factors and
valuation engine used in the VaR (known as 'Risk Theoretical P&L' - RTPL) and the hypothetical P&L
(HPnL) using full revaluation. As a result, bank is investing in the front-to-risk chain and
building-out expert monitoring capabilities across Global Markets and RISK.

 Be Subject Matter Expert in field.
 Act as a second/third level production support related to Market Risk.
 Provide expertise on data quality/system issues and adequate remediation actions.
 Can act as technical business analyst and provide both system and business analysis.
 Provide business support to users and act as second line/third line of support.
 Provide expertise and ensure operations requirements are well captured before releasing
changes to production.
 Contribute to build tools used for controls, monitoring and reporting.
 Contribute actively to the continuous Improvement of the operations.
 Ensure an adequate documentation and handover is provided to the operations team.

Classification : Internal
 When dealing with subject matter experts, contribute on complex topics, such as those involving
quantitative analysis, models, stress testing, etc.
 Establish relationships with the business to identify business requirements and provide
appropriate support; may participate in cross-functional projects.
 Coach and train more junior team members.
The candidate is expected to perform the above tasks in collaboration and agreement with the Scrum
Masters, Product Owners and other staff within the MM squads and where necessary with the
Operations and Infrastructure teams.

Skills & Experience Required
Qualifications
 Education: Master degree in Finance / IT / Mathematics; Engineering
Experience
 Proven experience in the banking industry with a focus on Front office or Risk functions.
 Experience in deliveries continuous improvement to processes and systems within support and
operations functions.
 Experience as systems analyst delivering changes from development into operations.
 Subject Matter Expert in Market Risk

Skills:
 Strong communication, both verbal and written.
 Strong organisation and time management abilities.
 Solid business analysis and project management skills.
 Understanding of ITIL framework.
 Solid finance background with sound experience in risk management.
 Advanced XLS skills and Database knowlegde is a must and Python is a plus
 Must be able to thrive under pressure and co-ordinate the work of teams that are geographically
dispersed.
 Good problem solving skills.
 Languages: English is essential.
