Contract Microsoft Hybrid Infrastructure & Migration Specialist

Location: Saint-Laurent, near YUL (2-3 Days Onsite Per Week)

Position Type: 15-month Contract (T4 or incoporated)

Role Level: Senior / Subject Matter Expert (SME)

We are currently seeking a senior-level MS Tech Stack SME / Specialist for a high-priority enterprise infrastructure modernization initiative in Montreal.

This role is designed for an experienced Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Architect who possesses deep expertise in core Microsoft on-premises architecture (Active Directory, Windows Server, core network services) and hybrid Azure environments. Crucially, this is a hands-on execution role-the ideal candidate must be active in writing Terraform code, managing code repositories in GitHub, and directly implementing complex migration tasks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Microsoft Infrastructure & Legacy Modernization

• Lead and execute end-to-end Active Directory migrations, including Domain Controller (DC) builds/promotions, FSMO role transfers, replication topology setup, and Sites & Services configuration.

• Manage service-level migrations including KMS (Key Management Service) and WSUS / Windows Update infrastructure.

• Drive Windows Server upgrades and execute End-of-Support (EOS) remediation programs for legacy enterprise systems.

• Administer core networking and directory services including AD DS, Group Policy (GPO), DNS, and DHCP.

2. Hybrid Cloud & Azure Architecture

• Deploy and maintain Azure IaaS virtual machine environments and associated cloud networking components.

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot hybrid identity synchronization using Entra Connect (formerly Azure AD Connect).

• Support core Microsoft platform architectures across Microsoft 365, Exchange, or SQL Server environments as needed during migrations.

3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation

• Author, maintain, and deploy declarative infrastructure code using Terraform.

• Manage version control, branch strategies, and deployment workflows using GitHub (and GitHub Actions/CI-CD pipelines).

• Utilize PowerShell and automated configuration tools to streamline deployment, configuration, and remediation tasks.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Core Infrastructure: Senior-level mastery of Windows Server OS, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, KMS, and WSUS.

• Migration Experience: Proven track record of executing hands-on Active Directory forest/domain migrations and OS upgrades in enterprise environments.

• Cloud & Hybrid Identity: Solid hands-on experience with Azure IaaS and Entra Connect (Azure AD Connect) hybrid identity setups.

• Automation & Tools: Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and GitHub for version control and automated pipelines.

• Work Requirement: Ability and willingness to work 4 days per week onsite in Montreal, QC.
