Chief Investment Officer
Location: Toronto | Work Model: Hybrid (1-2 days onsite)
OVERVIEW
We are seeking a visionary Chief Investment Officer to own our portfolio architecture and lead asset class innovation. This is more than a strategy role; it is a seat on the Executive Board with a clear trajectory to CEO. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership: Build a high-performing investment team and partner with the Executive Board to drive business growth and the product roadmap.
- Public Voice: Act as the firm's primary investment spokesperson for media, industry conferences, and institutional partners.
- Investment Vision: Lead a comprehensive overhaul of model portfolio suites, applying best-in-class construction principles and risk-tiered strategies.
- Asset Innovation: Expand the investment universe by integrating alternatives, private credit, infrastructure, and factor-based strategies.
- Framework Ownership: Define and maintain the firm's IPS, tactical asset allocation, and rebalancing methodologies.
- Governance Leadership: Chair the Investment Committee and establish rigorous standards for product approval and monitoring.
- Rigorous Due Diligence: Develop proprietary frameworks to evaluate ETFs, funds, and managers (Performance, Cost, Liquidity, ESG).
- Risk & Compliance: Oversee stress-testing and portfolio monitoring to ensure alignment with CIRO regulations and client mandates.
- Execution Oversight: Lead the Portfolio Management function, ensuring seamless rebalancing, fund flows, and performance reporting.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product and Tech teams to embed investment capabilities into the digital platform experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Credentialed Expert: CFA Designation is required.
- Proven Tenure: 15+ years of investment management experience, with substantial time in a CIO, Deputy CIO, or Senior PM role.
- Technical Mastery: Deep grasp of asset allocation, risk management, and modern portfolio theory.
- Asset Versatility: Expertise across traditional and alternative asset classes, with extensive due diligence experience (ETFs, Mutual Funds, Liquid Alts).
- Domain Edge: Experience within robo-advisory, digital wealth, or fintech is a significant advantage.
