This senior leadership and revenue-generating role is responsible for developing strategic relationships with major Japanese corporates across the Healthcare or Technology (TMT) sector and delivering sophisticated financial solutions spanning Corporate Banking, Structured Finance, lending, derivatives, foreign exchange, and risk management.
You will act as a strategic adviser to senior corporate decision-makers, identifying opportunities based on their financing, investment, risk management, and international growth priorities. Working across the bank's Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Structured Finance, and Global Markets capabilities, you will translate senior client relationships into sustainable revenue opportunities.
As Deputy Head of Coverage, you will also support the Head of Corporate Coverage in developing the broader business, mentoring junior bankers, and strengthening collaboration across the Tokyo platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and expand senior relationships with a portfolio of major Japanese Healthcare or Technology corporate clients.
- Originate and execute opportunities across corporate finance, structured finance, corporate lending, derivatives, foreign exchange, and hedging solutions.
- Act as a strategic adviser to senior client stakeholders by developing a deep understanding of their financing, investment, risk management, and international growth priorities.
- Develop sector-specific coverage strategies and identify new revenue opportunities across financing, advisory, and Global Markets products.
- Coordinate product specialists and regional teams to deliver integrated solutions across the bank's Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Structured Finance, and Global Markets platform.
- Convert senior-level client dialogue into actionable transactions and sustainable long-term revenue opportunities.
- Support the Head of Corporate Coverage in managing and developing the broader coverage business in Japan.
- Mentor and support junior bankers while strengthening collaboration across product and coverage teams within the Tokyo platform.
- Manage credit, client profitability, and capital allocation while ensuring transactions satisfy the bank's risk, return, and compliance requirements.
- Build a coordinated client strategy that brings together corporate finance, structured finance, lending, derivatives, FX, and risk-management solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Significant professional experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Structured Finance, or Global Markets coverage within an international or leading Japanese financial institution.
- Established relationships with senior decision-makers at major Japanese corporates in either the Healthcare or Technology sector.
- Proven ability to originate and execute corporate lending, structured finance, and other complex financing transactions.
- Strong understanding of derivatives, foreign exchange, and hedging products, with the ability to introduce these solutions as part of broader corporate banking relationships.
- Demonstrated success coordinating multiple product teams and converting senior client discussions into sustainable revenue opportunities.
- Experience leading strategic client relationships and developing sector-specific coverage strategies.
- Experience supporting and developing junior bankers.
- Proven contribution to the strategic development and growth of a Corporate Coverage business.

- Demonstrable transaction experience with major Japanese Healthcare or Technology companies.
- Broad product knowledge enabling the delivery of solutions beyond conventional corporate lending.
