Join a leading global bank in Tokyo as a Senior Aviation Finance Banker at VP-to-Director level, taking responsibility for originating, structuring, and executing sophisticated debt financing transactions across Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
This senior banking position focuses on aviation finance, aircraft-secured lending, structured finance, and transportation asset finance for airlines, aircraft lessors, and corporate clients. You will manage transactions throughout the complete deal lifecycle, from initial client engagement and structuring through credit approval, documentation, negotiation, and closing.
Working within an established global Aviation Finance platform, you will also develop senior client relationships and collaborate with regional and international specialists across Syndications, Sustainable Finance, and Debt Capital Markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate, structure, and execute aircraft-secured loans and transportation asset financing for airlines, aircraft lessors, and corporate clients.
- Identify financing opportunities and develop senior-level relationships with clients across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
- Prepare client proposals, market analyses, credit applications, cash-flow and financial models, and internal approval materials.
- Lead commercial negotiations and coordinate financing terms and documentation with clients, legal advisers, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage transactions independently from initial origination through credit approval, documentation, and financial close.
- Work closely with Credit, Legal, Compliance, Tax, Risk, KYC, and Operations teams throughout the transaction execution process.
- Manage the existing aviation and asset finance loan portfolio, including annual credit reviews, amendments, waivers, and emerging credit matters.
- Collaborate with global Aviation Finance, Loan Syndications, Sustainable Finance, and Debt Capital Markets teams to develop broader financing solutions for clients.
- Maintain strong awareness of aviation, transportation, financing, and credit market developments relevant to client opportunities and portfolio management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Significant relevant professional experience in aviation finance, structured finance, asset finance, project finance, or another credit-intensive financing business.
- Demonstrated experience originating, structuring, and executing complex debt financing transactions.
- Strong experience in credit analysis, cash-flow modelling, and preparing internal credit and approval materials.
- Practical experience negotiating financing terms and coordinating loan and security documentation.
- Proven ability to independently manage transactions from initial client engagement through credit approval and closing.
- Experience working with senior clients and international stakeholders within a global banking or financial services environment.
- More than 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills across Japanese and international business environments.
- Ability to independently drive complex transactions while collaborating effectively with regional and global teams.

- Direct professional experience in aviation finance or aircraft finance.
- Established client relationships or industry network among airlines, aircraft lessors, or transportation companies.
- Experience with loan syndication and syndicated financing transactions.
- Exposure to Sustainable Finance solutions within aviation, transportation, or asset finance.
- Experience collaborating with Debt Capital Markets (DCM) teams or developing broader capital markets solutions for clients.
- Strong understanding of aircraft-secured lending and transportation asset financing structures.
