Global Payroll Manager - HR Ops & Compliance Lead | Tokyo

As our company continues to expand across new business areas, we are seeking a Global Payroll Manager to enhance HR operations. In this role, you will lead payroll management, social insurance processing, and personnel cost oversight while working closely with internal departments and external partners. You'll also support immigration processes and ensure ongoing compliance in a dynamic, international environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage external vendors handling payroll and related processes
• Oversee employee lifecycle procedures (join, resign, temp leave)
• Execute accurate payroll calculations, including resident tax and year-end adjustments
• Handle social insurance filings in coordination with consultants
• Manage personnel cost data in partnership with accounting and tax teams
• Collect and securely manage My Number data
• Support visa renewal processes in collaboration with legal advisors

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience in payroll or HR operations

Technical Skills:

• Familiarity with payroll systems and reporting processes

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication, attention to detail, and vendor coordination ability

Language Requirements

• Japanese: Native-level fluency
• English: Business-level or intermediate proficiency

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience managing HR or payroll projects
• Familiarity with COMPANY (payroll system)
• Experience implementing new systems or tools
• Background in workflow/process improvement with stakeholders
• Leadership experience managing team members
