A leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Equity Prime Finance Origination Director to join its Global Markets business in Tokyo. This is a rare front-office opportunity to lead business development initiatives for Japanese Equity Prime Finance, focusing on expanding relationships with hedge funds and other institutional clients.
As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in originating new business, delivering strategic financing solutions, and partnering with global stakeholders to grow the firm's Prime Finance franchise in Japan. Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development initiatives for the Japanese Equity Prime Finance business, with a primary focus on hedge fund clients.
- Build, develop, and manage long-term relationships with domestic and international institutional investors.
- Originate new Prime Finance opportunities and identify strategic revenue growth initiatives.
- Deliver tailored financing and capital markets solutions that meet clients' investment and trading objectives.
- Collaborate with Sales, Trading, Prime Brokerage, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams to provide seamless client service.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to identify new business opportunities.
- Represent the firm in client meetings, industry events, and strategic business discussions.
- Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Japanese Equity Prime Finance within an investment bank based in Japan.
- Proven track record in Prime Finance Origination, business development, and institutional client coverage.
- Extensive experience working with hedge funds and institutional investors.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese equity markets, Prime Brokerage, securities financing, and capital markets.
- Demonstrated success in developing new client relationships and expanding existing business opportunities.
