A top-tier global bank is seeking an experienced Director-level Relationship Manager to lead a high-performing team in Tokyo. This strategic role covers Japanese large corporate clients across diverse industries and offers the opportunity to deliver multi-product corporate banking solutions. You'll play a central role in driving client engagement, originating complex deals, and mentoring junior bankers, while working cross-functionally with global and regional product partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coverage and deepen relationships for a portfolio of top-tier Japanese corporate clients
- Originate and execute structured solutions across lending, transaction banking, and project finance
- Engage clients in sectors such as transportation, logistics, tech/media, and F&B
- Identify cross-sell opportunities in partnership with global product and regional teams
- Deliver strategic advice and sector-specific insights to key decision-makers
- Oversee credit quality, financial risk, and ensure compliance standards are met
- Support junior bankers and contribute to talent development and team positioning
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 10+ years in corporate or institutional banking
- Proven track record in client origination, execution, and portfolio leadership
- In-depth understanding of credit risk, financial analysis, and corporate banking products
- Exposure to major Japanese industry verticals (e.g., logistics, media, food & beverage)
Soft Skills:
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Leadership presence with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Native
- English: Fluent
