Join a leading global asset management firm as an Assistant Finance Manager, supporting core finance and accounting operations in a highly international environment.
It offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and global stakeholder collaboration in a bilingual environment. You will work closely with overseas headquarters while driving accurate and timely accounting processes in Japan.
This role is a 14-month fixed-term contract (Jun 2026 - Aug 2027) for maternity cover.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger oversight and trial balance review.
- Prepare monthly regulatory reports for the Financial Services Agency (FSA).
- Collaborate with global headquarters to ensure accurate financial reporting and communication.
- Review monthly financial results and provide insightful analysis and commentary.
- Maintain financial reports, internal policies, procedures, and accounting systems.
- Support internal audits, external audits, and tax filings.
- Supervise accounts payable and T&E processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality financial support.
- Participate in ad hoc projects and finance-related initiatives as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Japan GAAP, and internal controls for financial reporting.
- Experience in financial institutions, preferably within asset management or related sectors.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements in asset management.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems.
Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a bilingual (Japanese/English) environment.
- Ability to work proactively and maintain high performance under tight deadlines.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
