About the Opportunity

We are working with a leading consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to take ownership of our enterprise database environment and ensure the ongoing reliability, performance, security and availability of critical business systems.

This is a senior infrastructure position suited to someone who enjoys taking ownership of complex Microsoft SQL Server environments while working closely with infrastructure, application and business teams on strategic technology initiatives.

You'll play a key role in maintaining business-critical platforms, improving database performance, strengthening security, supporting major technology projects and driving continuous improvement across our data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage enterprise production and non-production SQL Server environments
• Ensure database availability, performance, reliability and security
• Monitor and optimise database performance
• Perform capacity planning and proactive health monitoring
• Manage backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes
• Develop and optimise SQL scripts, stored procedures and automation
• Support upgrades, migrations and technology transformation initiatives
• Implement database security, auditing and access controls
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application and project teams
• Maintain technical documentation and operational standards
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across the IT function
• Drive continual improvement through automation and best practice adoption

Skills & Experience

Essential

• 5+ years' experience administering enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Strong SQL Server administration experience
• Advanced T-SQL
• Experience with High Availability architectures
• Performance tuning and optimisation
• Backup and Disaster Recovery planning and testing
• Database security and access management
• Windows Server administration experience
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Highly Desirable

• Professional Services, Legal or Financial Services experience
• Cloud database platforms
• Microsoft Fabric
• Enterprise backup platforms such as Rubrik or HYCU
• API integrations
• Data governance experience
• Experience supporting enterprise business applications
