This hands-on infrastructure role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting Linux servers, storage systems, networking equipment, structured cabling, and physical data center infrastructure. You will provide technical support in Japanese while helping ensure high availability and reliability across demanding production environments.
The position is ideal for an experienced Data Center Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer with strong Linux knowledge who wants to develop broader expertise across servers, storage, networking, hardware troubleshooting, rack installation, cabling, cooling, and data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support in Japanese for production servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and associated data center infrastructure.
- Install, monitor, maintain, and optimise physical and software-based infrastructure to ensure high service availability.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, network connectivity, and infrastructure-related incidents.
- Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate engineering teams when required.
- Install and replace servers, storage devices, networking hardware, and other infrastructure components.
- Perform rack installation, equipment moves, component replacements, and cable management.
- Carry out structured cabling and other physical data center floor activities.
- Support switch maintenance and network infrastructure activities.
- Troubleshoot Linux operating systems, hardware failures, network connectivity, and performance issues.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
- Support data center infrastructure including electrical systems, cooling, networking, and containment.
- Work closely with infrastructure and engineering teams to maintain stable, highly available production environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Previous professional experience working in a data center environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of Linux operating systems.
- Hands-on experience working with enterprise servers, storage systems, and networking technologies.
- Experience with physical data center infrastructure activities, including rack installation, equipment moves, and cable management.
- Experience working with data center containment and structured cabling.
- Understanding of data center infrastructure, including electrical systems, cooling, networking, and cabling.
- Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting server and hardware issues.
- Experience troubleshooting operating systems and network connectivity problems.
- Experience investigating infrastructure performance and availability issues.
- Ability to perform hands-on hardware installation, maintenance, and component replacement activities in production environments.
