A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced VP Trade Finance professional to support the growth of its global transaction banking platform in Japan. This role focuses on originating and executing complex trade finance and structured working capital solutions for large corporate and multinational clients across domestic and cross-border markets.
You will work closely with Relationship Managers, product specialists, and regional stakeholders to deliver tailored financing solutions while expanding client relationships and supporting strategic business growth. Key Responsibilities
- Originate and execute trade finance and structured working capital solutions for multinational and large corporate clients across Japan and regional markets.
- Partner with Relationship Managers and product teams to identify cross-border financing opportunities and expand client wallet share.
- Lead client discussions and support preparation of transaction proposals, financing structures, and customized trade finance solutions.
- Coordinate with Credit, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and regional stakeholders to ensure smooth transaction execution and implementation.
- Manage transaction pipelines, internal approvals, utilization monitoring, and deal documentation across multiple mandates.
- Support negotiation and execution of trade finance products including letters of credit, guarantees, supply chain finance, and receivables finance solutions.
- Monitor market trends, client activities, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, KYC, operational risk, and regulatory frameworks throughout the transaction lifecycle.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5-12 years of experience within Trade Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Transaction Banking, or Corporate Banking environments.
- Strong product knowledge across letters of credit, guarantees, trade loans, supply chain finance, and receivables finance solutions.
- Experience managing transaction execution processes while coordinating with Credit, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with large corporate and multinational clients within international banking platforms.
- Bachelor's degree and over 6 years of professional experience required.

- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to build trusted client and stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities within a fast-paced international banking environment.

Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native or fluent level required.

- Exposure to structured trade finance, supply chain finance, or receivables finance solutions.
- Relevant trade finance certifications, credit training, or Japanese banking licenses are advantageous.
