Join a leading global financial institution as a Securities Settlement Operations AVP, overseeing end-to-end settlement operations in Japan.
This role combines hands-on operational leadership, process improvement, and system project involvement, offering strong exposure across custody and clearing functions. You will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence while driving automation, efficiency, and team development in a fast-paced investment banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily securities settlement operations, including custody and third-party clearing.
- Collaborate with IT teams on system enhancements, testing, and operational projects.
- Act as a subject matter expert, supporting client inquiries and stakeholder communication.
- Lead process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and documentation standards.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering collaboration and professional development.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience in securities operations, custody, clearing, and settlement.
- Experience working within financial institutions or investment banking environments.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent communication skills when engaging with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Business level
- English: Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of Japanese settlement systems (JASDEC, BOJ-NET, PSMS, JSDD, JDCC)
- Relevant certifications such as JASA (Securities Sales Representative) or Internal Controls Manager
