Are you an experienced Automotive Systems Engineer looking to lead the development of next-generation vehicle safety and driver monitoring technologies in Japan?
Join a leading global Tier-1 automotive technology supplier as an In-Cabin Sensing Systems Engineer, taking technical ownership of advanced Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Occupant Monitoring Systems (OMS) for major Japanese automotive manufacturers.
As a Function Owner, you will lead the complete development lifecycle of in-cabin sensing features, from initial concept definition and system requirements through engineering validation and mass-production launch.
Working directly with Japanese automotive OEMs (JOEMs), international R&D teams, and project managers, you will translate customer requirements into functional system architectures while ensuring compliance with Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) objectives.
This is an opportunity to influence the development of intelligent automotive technologies, including driver drowsiness detection, occupant monitoring, child presence detection, and personalised in-cabin experiences.
If you have a strong background in automotive product development, embedded systems, ADAS, or camera-based sensing technologies, this position offers the opportunity to take technical leadership in a globally connected engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Automotive OEM Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary technical contact for Japanese automotive OEMs, clarify system requirements, communicate engineering progress, and resolve technical concerns throughout the development lifecycle.
- DMS/OMS Feature Development: Lead end-to-end engineering activities for Driver Monitoring Systems and Occupant Monitoring Systems, including driver drowsiness monitoring, occupant detection, child presence detection, and personalisation features.
- System Requirements and Functional Architecture: Translate customer specifications into functional requirements and system architecture, ensuring alignment with vehicle safety, performance, and product development objectives.
- Quality, Cost, and Delivery Management: Take ownership of QCD targets, coordinate technical reviews, evaluate design proposals, and manage engineering Change Requests (CRs) and approval processes.
- Technical Problem-Solving and Failure Analysis: Lead root-cause investigations, identify corrective actions, and resolve complex engineering challenges involving multiple technical disciplines.
- Automotive Engineering Process Compliance: Apply and continuously improve engineering processes in accordance with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) and relevant automotive quality standards.
- Cross-Functional R&D Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, electronics specialists, systems engineers, project managers, and international development teams to ensure successful feature delivery.
- Technical Resource Planning: Coordinate engineering resources and development priorities with project managers and R&D leadership to support project schedules and product milestones.
- Mass-Production Readiness: Oversee technical development and validation activities to support the successful transition of DMS/OMS functions from concept to mass production.
