Key Responsibilities
- Trading Floor Support: Provide day-to-day technical support for cash equities trading operations, ensuring the reliability and performance of Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), and trading connectivity.
- Tokyo Stock Exchange Coordination: Liaise with the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) regarding trading system upgrades, connectivity requirements, technical inquiries, and operational changes.
- Global IT Collaboration: Work closely with international IT development teams, infrastructure specialists, and external vendors to coordinate application configurations, network connectivity, and system testing.
- Incident Management and Compliance: Investigate and resolve trading system incidents, prepare regulatory incident reports, and support annual Business Continuity Planning (BCP) exercises and internal audits.
- New Trading Technology Initiatives: Support the implementation of new business IT projects, including futures trading connectivity and self-clearing operations.
- System Testing and Upgrades: Coordinate technical testing, application upgrades, and infrastructure improvements to maintain stable trading operations and minimise business disruption.
- Operational Excellence: Identify opportunities to enhance trading system reliability, streamline technical support processes, and improve overall trading floor efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in IT application support or trading floor technology, specifically supporting cash equities operations within investment banking, securities, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of Japanese wholesale equities markets, including cash equity trading workflows, order execution, and trading system connectivity.
- Hands-on experience supporting Order Management Systems (OMS) and Execution Management Systems (EMS) in a trading environment.
- Working knowledge of SQL for basic data extraction, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Linux commands for application monitoring, system investigation, and technical support.
- Practical experience using JIRA and Confluence for incident tracking, technical documentation, and team collaboration.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to troubleshoot time-sensitive technical issues in a live trading environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when managing trading system incidents, connectivity issues, and operational risks.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills when collaborating with traders, IT developers, external vendors, and regulatory stakeholders.

- Japanese: Intermediate to business-level proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing, enabling effective communication with local trading teams, vendors, and the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- FIX Protocol: Working knowledge of the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) Protocol and its application in electronic trading and order execution systems.
- Vendor Coordination: Experience managing technical upgrades, system implementations, or trading connectivity projects involving external technology providers.
- Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with regulatory incident reporting, internal audit inspections, and compliance requirements within financial services.
