A global fintech organization is seeking an experienced HR Payroll Specialist to support accurate and compliant payroll operations in Japan. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth monthly payroll processing while supporting broader HR administration within an international, English-speaking environment. You will work closely with local and global stakeholders, gaining exposure to global HR best practices while contributing to a stable and well-structured organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly payroll processing for employees and contractors in Japan
- Collaborate with internal HR and finance teams to ensure accurate payroll execution
- Ensure full compliance with Japanese labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies
- Maintain and update employee compensation, benefits, and deduction records
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in payroll operations or HR administration
- Strong knowledge of Japanese payroll regulations, tax compliance, and labor laws
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills to work with global HR and finance teams
- High attention to detail and accuracy when handling payroll data
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Fluent
- English: Intermediate to Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of social insurance and employee benefits administration
- Experience working with outsourced payroll vendors
- Understanding of compliance-driven HR environments
