    Automotive Technical Project Manager - ECU - HMI Kanto

    About the job

    Join a global automotive technology company as an Automotive Technical Project Manager, leading complex cross-functional engineering projects for advanced in-vehicle electronic systems and software.

    You will manage projects from development through production, coordinating engineering teams, automotive OEMs, suppliers, and international stakeholders. The role combines Technical Project Management, automotive system development, engineering coordination, risk management, and customer engagement.

    You will take ownership of project schedules, milestones, resources, technical alignment, and issue resolution while ensuring engineering projects remain on track for successful delivery.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive engineer or Technical Project Manager with expertise in ECU, HMI, Cluster, automotive software, or vehicle electronic systems to develop their project leadership career in an international automotive environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead end-to-end engineering projects for advanced automotive electronic systems and software from development through production.
    • Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, resources, priorities, and technical deliverables.
    • Take ownership of overall project execution and ensure engineering activities remain aligned with delivery targets.
    • Identify project and technical risks at an early stage and drive appropriate mitigation and resolution.
    • Coordinate complex engineering activities across multiple technical and functional teams.
    • Work closely with Japanese automotive OEMs, suppliers, and external engineering partners.
    • Coordinate technical requirements, specifications, priorities, and project dependencies between stakeholders.
    • Facilitate communication between customers, internal teams, and international or offshore engineering organisations.
    • Communicate project status, technical issues, risks, and required decisions clearly to relevant stakeholders.
    • Drive practical solutions to technical and project challenges to maintain development schedules.
    • Support successful transition from engineering development through testing, validation, and production.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:
    • 3+ years of relevant professional experience within automotive engineering, system development, software development, or technical project management.
    • Experience in automotive system or software development.
    • Hands-on experience in Technical Project Management, engineering project coordination, or a similar technical leadership role.
    • Experience coordinating complex, cross-functional engineering activities.
    • Experience managing project schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, and technical deliverables.
    • Experience collaborating with customers, suppliers, engineering teams, or other technical stakeholders.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant technical education.
    Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive cross-functional teams without relying solely on direct authority.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information, project status, and risks clearly to different stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify project challenges early and drive practical solutions.
    • Ability to coordinate diverse technical teams and maintain alignment around project objectives.
    • Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively within international and multicultural engineering environments.
    • Proactive, structured approach to project execution, risk management, and issue resolution.
    Language Requirements:
    • Japanese: Fluent-level proficiency required for customer interaction and coordination with Japanese automotive stakeholders.
    • English: Fluent-level proficiency required for international collaboration and communication with global engineering teams.

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience managing ECU or system-level automotive development projects.
    • Knowledge of automotive development processes and standards such as Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) or the V-Model.
    • Experience working directly with Japanese automotive OEMs.
    • Experience coordinating international, global, or offshore engineering teams.
    • Technical background in Digital Cluster, HMI, body electronics, ECU, or similar automotive systems.
    • Experience supporting automotive projects from development through testing, validation, and production.
    • Knowledge of automotive electronics, embedded software, or vehicle system architecture.
    • Experience combining technical engineering knowledge with project and stakeholder management.
