Job Description

A new opportunity to take over the management of a newly formed finance team providing controllership and finance support to the business in Japan.

Roles/Responsibilities

  • Manage a team responsible for all external financial reporting, including month end and annual statutory reporting and tax returns.
  • Complete head office reporting using US accounting standards (USGAAP).
  • Ensure the accuracy and control of accounting records and systems, working on projects to improve financial systems within the organisation.
  • Support the implementation of firm-wide control initiative, including SOX methodologies .
  • Work closely with the business to help them to interpret different accounting standards and how financial processes can be optimised to ensure the growth of the business.
  • Manage relationships with regulators, external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Establish an effective finance team after a large, firm-wide structural change, providing leadership and mentorship to junior finance members and helping them to remain focused during a transitional period.

Required skills

  • Deep understanding of J GAAP and US GAAP accounting standards, including reporting requirements and technical accounting procedures.
  • Ability to manage a small team within a complex change environment.
  • Strong communication skills in Japanese (reading and writing) and English.
