An established and international Fintech firm is searching for an experienced Compliance officer for their growing Japan business
Our client is a global leader in cross-border digital transactions and money transfer services for both retail and corporate clients. They have been operating in Japan for a number of years and are further consolidating their market presence with the addition of new customers and gradual rollout of new products.
Globally they invest considerable resources in Compliance, and actively engage with regulators in each jurisdiction to help shape the development of regulations in the evolving digital payments space.
This is an opportunity for an experienced individual (Manager / VP / Director) to partner closely with the business leaders in Japan to help achieve their strategic goals by managing compliance and regulatory risk.
Responsibilities would include engaging with authorities (JFSA etc.) to scan regulatory change and maintain solid relations, as well as protecting the firm's licenses in Japan.
Additionally working closely with regional & global Compliance teams to enhance compliance policy frameworks locally in line with the company's objectives, as well as driving good governance and compliance culture.
Participate in periodic testing and audits of controls and compliance programs to ensure their effectiveness as part of a data-driven and risk-based approach.
Coordinate with product as well as sales and marketing teams to ensure services are in line with laws, rules, and internal standards.
Provide training and leadership to junior compliance officers in line with growth, including data analysts supporting the function.
7+ years Compliance experience within financial services, preferably with international experience and leading/growing a team
A genuine interest in the developing nexus between finance & technology and the evolving regulatory arena
Fluent English for internal communication & Fluent Japanese for regulatory liaison
A dynamic individual that is able to take initiative and operate with autonomy in a global environment
