Job Description

Tax Compliance Manager - Permanent Position - Well known and expanding Australian organisation - $165k package + bonus as well as excellent company benefits

Manage tax risks for this well know organisation through accurate and timely tax compliance and reporting, together with ensuring the group maintains and further develops strong governance in relation to tax.

About the role

  • Manage the Group's tax compliance obligations, ensuring they are completed accurately and within strict timeframes. Initially this will include Australia, however may include supervision of outsource providers in off-shore jurisdictions over time;
  • Ownership of the worldwide Group's tax accounting and reporting obligations. This will include monthly tax provision, tax forecasting, half year / yearend tax calculations and disclosure notes in the financial reports;
  • On time tax lodgements and responding to Revenue authority queries; and
  • Maintain and develop tax governance through improved operational processes (best practice), development of tax systems and minimisation of tax risks.
  • Manage half year and year-end tax calculations and disclosures for financial reports;
  • Manage preparation of monthly tax effect accounting journals, reconciliation reports and tax forecasts;
  • Manage preparation of income tax returns for Australia;
  • Assist with co-ordinating income tax returns in off-shore jurisdictions;
  • Manage preparation of monthly BAS and IAS for the business and lodgement with the ATO;
  • Manage aspects of monthly/annual payroll tax calculations;
  • Manage annual Australian FBT return(s);
  • Manage relationship with Revenue authorities and respond to queries;
  • Ensuring the organisation operates in accordance with the group's Tax Risk Framework;
  • Update the Group's tax compliance processes in accordance with legislative change, as required, and best practice;
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and tax governance, develop tax processes and minimise tax risk; and
  • Manage ad hoc projects as required.

Education and Experience

  • Corporate tax experience (income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax) gained at Big 4 and/or ASX listed corporation;
  • Experience with CCH Tax Integrator;
  • Financial services experience - asset management or banking;
  • Detail-oriented, efficient and organised;
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax law - direct and indirect taxes;
  • Understanding of transfer pricing principles;
  • Exposure to the following preferred:
  • Due diligence for acquisitions;
  • Tax consolidation - ACA entry/exit calculations;
  • Thin capitalisation;
  • Controlled Foreign Company provisions;
  • Off-shore tax experience - USA, Singapore, UK, Europe;
  • Analytical and investigation skills;
  • Able to operate with minimal supervision;
  • Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders at different levels;
  • Strong time management ability and be able work under pressure.
