A leading global corporate and investment bank is seeking an experienced Head of VC & New Economy Banking to spearhead venture capital coverage in Japan. This is a unique opportunity to lead business development, client engagement, and financial strategy within the technology, digital media, e-commerce, and FinTech sectors. The role will involve building a high-performing team, driving new business opportunities, and collaborating with global teams to enhance client coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and develop relationships with Corporate Banking clients, particularly in Venture Capital, startups, and the digital economy.
- Identify and drive business growth opportunities, expanding the bank’s footprint in the Japanese market.
- Promote comprehensive financial solutions, including corporate finance, investment banking, transaction banking, and payment services.
- Conduct client assessments and financial strategy development, aligning with business objectives.
- Build and lead a specialized team to enhance client engagement and tailor financial products.
- Collaborate with Investment Banking’s Technology sector teams to develop client solutions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional divisions to ensure a seamless and strategic client coverage approach.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 15+ years in Corporate or Investment Banking, with a strong focus on Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors.
- Deep expertise in Venture Capital, FinTech, and Innovation Economy industries.
- Prior experience in venture capital or private equity is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of local regulatory frameworks relevant to the FinTech industry.
- Familiarity with Corporate Finance (DCM, M&A) and Transaction Banking.
Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Proven track record in building and managing high-performing teams.
- Strong business acumen with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Native (required for client engagement and regulatory discussions).
- English: Fluent (for internal collaboration and global business development).
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Background in TMT banking, with strong exposure to Corporate or Investment Banking.
