An excellent opportunity has arisen for a bilingual Desktop Support Engineer to join a global leader in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. Based in Tokyo, you will provide end-user IT support across Japan while working closely with regional and global IT teams. This role is ideal for an IT support professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, supporting business users, and contributing to enterprise IT infrastructure within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Level 2 desktop support for employees across Japan, providing both onsite support in the Tokyo office and remote assistance to branch locations.
- Install, configure, and deploy Windows workstations using global corporate images and Mobile Device Management (MDM) policies.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, printers, scanners, video conferencing systems, and other IT equipment.
- Manage user accounts, software licensing, and access permissions through Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Support and maintain local office network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, switches, and routers, while collaborating with the Global Network Team.
- Manage IT asset lifecycle, including hardware procurement, inventory tracking, device replacement, and vendor coordination.
- Partner with global IT teams to implement infrastructure upgrades, security patches, and enterprise technology initiatives.
- Support cybersecurity policies and ensure compliance with company security standards and data protection requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or systems administration, preferably within a multinational company.
- Strong hands-on experience supporting Windows 10/11 environments, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and Active Directory.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN connectivity, and enterprise network troubleshooting.
- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise laptops and Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms such as Microsoft Intune.
- Experience managing local vendors and supporting enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Knowledge of IT security practices and cybersecurity principles is highly desirable.
