A growing M&A and professional services group in Tokyo is seeking a Cross-Border M&A Advisor to support Japanese companies pursuing overseas growth and acquisitions.
This role provides hands-on exposure to the complete cross-border M&A lifecycle, from deal sourcing through an international partner network to buyer identification, company matching, proposal development, project management, execution, and closing. You will work primarily on transactions involving companies across Asia, Oceania, and Europe while advising major and listed Japanese corporations on overseas M&A opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with international M&A partners across Asia, Oceania, and Europe.
- Source potential cross-border M&A opportunities through overseas partner networks.
- Collect, review, and analyze information on overseas sell-side opportunities.
- Support the origination and structuring of potential M&A transactions.
- Identify and research prospective Japanese buyers, primarily major corporations and listed companies.
- Approach potential buyers and facilitate matching with overseas sell-side companies.
- Prepare M&A proposals, presentations, and other client-facing materials.
- Present overseas acquisition opportunities to prospective Japanese buyers and support deal origination.
- Coordinate and manage cross-border M&A projects involving multiple domestic and international stakeholders.
- Support transaction execution from initial engagement through the closing process.
- Communicate with overseas partners and clients in both Japanese and English.
- Contribute to expanding the firm's global M&A network and deal pipeline.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 2+ years of professional experience within a corporate environment.
- Experience working in a professional business environment involving multiple internal or external stakeholders.
- Strong interest in developing a professional career in cross-border M&A, financial advisory, and global business.
- Bachelor's degree.
Soft Skills:
- Strong sense of responsibility and ownership when managing assignments and client work.
- Ability to work with speed and adapt flexibly to unfamiliar tasks and new business environments.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience participating in M&A transactions or M&A-related projects.
- Experience working in overseas business or using English regularly in a professional environment.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, corporate strategy, or transaction advisory.
- Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 or above, CPA, USCPA, or another relevant finance/accounting qualification.
- Experience communicating or negotiating with international business partners.
- Interest in buy-side and sell-side cross-border M&A transactions.
