A newly created position for a Corporate Counsel has opened within Japan's expanding logistics and transportation operations. In this role, you will provide strategic legal guidance across commercial, compliance, and regulatory areas, shaping initiatives such as same-day delivery and new site launches. You will work closely with senior leadership, regulators, and global stakeholders to ensure business growth aligns with the highest legal and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as lead counsel for logistics and transportation operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate procurement, outsourcing, and service agreements.
- Provide legal support for new business initiatives such as e-commerce delivery models and logistics site expansion.
- Develop and maintain compliance frameworks across transport, labor, subcontracting, and antitrust laws.
- Manage regulatory engagement and oversee incident responses with relevant authorities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of legal experience at an international law firm and/or multinational in-house environment.
Expertise:
- Strong background in commercial and regulatory law, with proven ability in contract drafting and negotiation.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Fluent (native-level required).
- English: Fluent, business-level proficiency.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in both private practice and in-house legal teams.
- Familiarity with the logistics, e-commerce, or technology industries.
- Direct experience handling regulators and large-scale operational legal matters.
