Morgan McKinley is exclusively partnering with a growing Private Equity Firm based in Sydney to source an experienced Compliance Officer. This unique opportunity is not advertised on the open market or through any other agency.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious Compliance professional to take genuine ownership of the day-to-day compliance function. Reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and working closely with the Chief Risk Officer, this role offers an ideal balance of operational autonomy, executive exposure, and long-term career trajectory.
Sitting within a collaborative and high-performing team, you will establish robust compliance frameworks across Australian and offshore, oversee external service providers, and grow your remit as the firm continues its expansion.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and execute the end-to-end compliance framework, managing AFS licence conditions, breach assessments, regulatory reporting, and internal compliance registers.
- Administer the firm's AML/CTF programme, handle customer due diligence, manage regulatory documentation, and coordinate annual compliance reporting and independent reviews.
- Oversee external fund administrators in Australia and abroad on delegated compliance functions, including investor onboarding, sanctions/PEP screening, and ongoing service level monitoring.
- Design and execute the annual compliance monitoring and testing plan, conduct control assessments, and track remediation findings through to resolution.
- Act as the pragmatic, first-point-of-contact for internal compliance queries across investment and operations teams, while supporting the Chief Risk Officer on board reporting and risk self-assessments.
Requirements:
- 5+ years across risk and compliance within financial services, funds management, or private markets (Private Equity experience highly regarded, but not essential).
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce, Business, or Accounting.
- Working knowledge of the Corporations Act, AFS licence obligations, and the AML/CTF framework (exposure to offshore fund structures or FATCA/CRS is advantageous).
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently.
- Commercially pragmatic approach with excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate compliance requirements clearly across senior internal and external stakeholders.
