Compliance Manager

Morgan McKinley is partnering with a global leader in General Insurance as they search for an experienced Compliance Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of its compliance framework across Australia and New Zealand. You will act as a 2IC and provide training and mentorship to the rest of the analysts in the team.

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will collaborate with key business stakeholders and business units to foster a robust compliance culture and support the Three Lines of Defence model. You will need to quickly identify whether an incident is a breach of laws, regulations or the General Insurance Code of Practice, and whether it may be reportable under the Corporations Act breach reporting regime.

In order to qualify for the role, you must be a legally qualified professional with strong regulatory interpretation skills and proven legal risk management expertise within a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of the compliance framework across Australia and New Zealand.
• Oversee compliance incident and breach management, including investigations, reporting, and regulatory notifications (e.g., ASIC/APRA, General Insurance Code of Conduct).
• Provide pragmatic legal and regulatory compliance advice to internal business units on day-to-day operations and emerging initiatives.
• Assist with compliance risk assessments, control reviews, and monitoring regulatory changes to ensure operational alignment.
• Prepare regular compliance reports and updates for senior management, executive risk committees, and the Board.

Requirements

• You MUST hold a Law degree and have strong experience in compliance, legal risk, or regulatory roles.
• Ideally you have worked in General Insurance. However candidates who have worked in Financial Services with demonstrated knowledge of GICOP and the Corporation Act will be considered.
• Deep knowledge of Australian and New Zealand regulatory frameworks, legislation, and breach reporting obligations.
• Proven track record in compliance incident management, including rectification, remediation, and maintaining compliance registers.
• Exceptional analytical capability, strong relationship-building skills, and experience driving cross-functional workstreams.
