Job Description

Seeking an experienced Strategy & Planning manager to develop, monitor and refine the business strategy for a leading Infrastructure Organisation.

A unique opportunity to join a leading organisation who are instrumental in the development of infrastructure for the Western Sydney Region, and have also been named as Australia's biggest infrastructure project.

About the role:

As the Strategy & Planning Manager you will report into the General Manager Strategy in the development, monitoring and refinement of business and corporate strategy, as well as communication of strategic matters. The Strategy area works collaboratively across the organisation to identify and review strategic risks, and to identify and seize opportunities.

In this role you will independently gather and analyse facts/data and prepare alternative positions/scenarios on it, and make suitable recommendations for the organisation.

Key accountabilities:

  • Develop the update of the Corporate Plan and Strategic Business Plan

  • Identify and review strategic risks and seize opportunities

  • Gather insights and assemble into priorities to help set the strategic agenda

  • Conduct research activities to explore strategic issues and keep abreast of competitors, understand emerging trends

  • Prepare plans, briefings, presentations, Board papers and other materials ahead of time and as necessary to present strategic outcomes and recommendations by liaising with internal colleagues and external parties

  • Initiate, develop and implement frameworks, processes and plans to operationalise the strategy and support the analysis of business proposals;

  • Supporting trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders including commercial bodies, government agencies and regulatory bodies, airlines, contractors, and industry associations in accordance with business priorities;

  • Prepare & refine modelling, demand forecasting and evaluation of scenarios if required

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in business, economics or engineering and/or equivalent skills and knowledge with demonstrated career experience.

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in a similar role within a tier one organisation in strategy teams, business intelligence roles or consultancy firms.

  • Experience and qualifications in project management methodologies is desirable.

  • A working knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry including airport and airline operations, involvement in infrastructure projects, preparing business cases as well as experience with Commonwealth departmental processes is desirable.

  • Previous experience with strategy tools, for example organising and conducting war games and simulation, and/or scenario planning, is advantageous
