Prime Services Equity Finance Trader - APAC Coverage

A leading global investment bank is seeking a highly skilled Prime Services Equity Finance Trader to join its Tokyo office. This position, at VP to Director level, will cover APAC financial institutions, managing trading, client engagement, and financing strategies. You will play a key role in driving growth across prime services and equity financing within one of the world's most respected investment banks.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and manage equity finance and prime brokerage trades with institutional clients across the APAC region.

• Maintain and deepen relationships with financial institutions, delivering value-added financing solutions.

• Manage stock loan, repo, and collateral optimization activities to enhance funding efficiency.

• Work closely with risk, operations, and compliance teams to ensure smooth and compliant trading processes.

• Monitor market movements and client needs to identify new trading and revenue opportunities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• Minimum 7 years of Prime Services Equity Finance trading experience within an investment bank in Japan.

• Demonstrated success managing institutional relationships and executing financing transactions.

Technical Skills:

• Deep understanding of equity finance, stock borrow/lend, and margin trading.

• Strong knowledge of market structure and APAC regulatory requirements.

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Native-level fluency (spoken and written).

• English: Fluent business-level proficiency for internal and cross-regional communication.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal and client-management abilities.

• Strong analytical mindset and composure under pressure.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience covering institutional and hedge fund clients across multiple Asian markets.

• Proven ability to collaborate across trading, structuring, and operations teams.

• Familiarity with prime brokerage platforms and technology systems.
