Build up a data strategy for this global insurance company, working directly with leadership


  • As a member of the Executive Leadership team, you will be defining, and subsequently implementing, a Data Strategy and Data Policy for the company. The goal is to position the organization as a data-driven powerhouse. You will collaborate with business leaders to identify and deliver new data-driven opportunities that generate growth, improve efficiency, and enhance the customer experience. With a focus on creating a data-driven culture, you will lead the way in leveraging data and analytics to support decision-making and drive impactful business outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy to leverage existing data assets, generating business value, and enhancing our competitive position in the market.
  • Collaborate with business leadership to identify and deliver new data-driven opportunities for growth, efficiency, and customer experience enhancement.
  • Promote the development of a data-driven culture that uses analytics and data to inform decisions and have a positive influence on the organization.
  • Establish the enterprise's data management strategy based on the group data strategy, coordinating it with regional business and IT goals.
  • Implement strategies for managing data strategically and securely, assuring the accuracy of vital data across all environments and systems.
  • Maintain data and information governance policies, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Ensure adherence to industry regulations, especially those relating to data privacy and security.
  • Create and administer a data literacy program to provide staff with the abilities and information required for efficient data use.
  • Create and lead a productive team.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience working with BtoC or consumer data, in any industry.
  • 7+ years of experience leading a team in Business Intelligence, Data Management, Data Strategy, or similar area.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to clearly communicate in both English and Japanese complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A track record of successfully leading data-related initiatives, creating and implementing data strategies, and producing outcomes.
  • The capacity to apply data-driven insights to business difficulties.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in analytics tools including Python, SQL, Hadoop, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, information technology, or business administration); master's degree preferred.
  • Deep understanding of data management technologies, including data warehouses, data lakes, data integration tools (e.g., Informatica), analytics platforms (e.g., PowerBI), and data platform stacks (e.g., Azure).
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.
  • Fluent level Japanese, business level English or higher.

Preferred skills

  • Experience in insurance, or other BtoC financial services field.
  • Experience building a strategy from scratch.
