Senior Internal Auditor

Morgan McKinley are exclusively representing an Australian freight business looking for a highly experienced Senior Internal Auditor to act as a 2ic to the Head of Audit. The position offers the chance to contribute to continuous improvement and provide expert advice to management. You will be based out of the Sydney office, working hybrid 2 days in the office with some travel required.

This role involves performing operational audits across various business groups within the organisation. You will assist in achieving business objectives and improving risk management, control, and governance processes. You will also help to coach and mentor junior members of the team and step up to represent the Audit function when the Head Of is absent.

Responsibilities:

• Execute annual internal audit programmes, leading assigned audits in line with quality standards and schedules.
• Undertake consulting and advisory engagements to provide management with advice for continuous improvement.
• Communicate audit findings to stakeholders and prepare high-quality reports, recommending control design and operational effectiveness, and monitoring resolution.
• Create policies and procedures to improve the operational effectiveness of the audit programme.
• Promote and influence risk management across the organisation through training and practical application of tools.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of internal or external audit experience gained in a high-risk or complex organisation.
• Tertiary degree in Business/Commerce and CA or CPA qualification.
• Experience in both financial auditing and operational auditing is a must.
• Thorough understanding of Australian auditing procedures and regulations.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills with proven experience mentoring others.

You will need to hold full Australian working rights, an Australian driving license and be based in Sydney/NSW.
