Job Description

Seeking an experienced policy officer to join a leading Government Department to help co-design an Aboriginal Childhood Education Policy.

This leading Government Department is seeking a Policy Officer for a contract up until the end of June 2021, based in Sydney (work from home). In this role you will be responsible for supporting the development of strategic and regulatory policy and advice for early childhood education.

Key accountabilities:

  • Undertake research and synthesise and analyse relevant material to support the development of high.
  • level strategic and regulatory policy and advice including the scoping of policy proposals and the development of policy options.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Directorate to produce innovative policy proposals including an analysis of their implications, such as stakeholder reaction, risk and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide secretariat services for high level policy and other forums to support the effective operations of those groups.
  • Prepare quality evidence-based reports, submissions and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops and consultation with Aboriginal communities, organisations and early childhood education services

Desirable Criteria:

  • 2+ years experience in a policy advisor role.
  • Experience in Government or public sector.
  • Strong research skills and ability to prepare evidence based reports.
  • Background in education or aboriginal services is highly desirable.
