Great opportunity for a Capability Manager to join a high-profile government agency.

This is a 12-month initial contract. Rate is up to $1,100 per day + super.

This will follow a hybrid work set up (St Leonards and Work from home)

The Capability Manager is an experienced people leader, who will define the development pathways for the Program and Project Management capability area. The role will inspire members to continuously improve and develop their respective capabilities as a centre of excellence to meet and exceed the expectations of the Program and Portfolio Directors, delivering strategic outcomes. Additionally, the role will ensure consistency across Programs and Portfolios by developing and implementing standardised tools and methodologies.

About the Job:

  • Provide inspirational leadership and manage capability members performance, development, training and career pathways
  • Support the professional development of members through deployment, defined learning and career pathways to foster growth mindsets and the adoption of continuous personal development / learning to retain talent and enhance career satisfaction
  • In collaboration with the Program Manager and the capability member facilitate and provide oversight of an
    individual's deployment, ensuring role fit and responsibilities are aligned, risks identified, and controls implemented, including succession planning and guardrails to enable autonomy within programs.
  • Responsible for building team capacity, through recruitment practice and effective utilisation of the team members across large Portfolios of state-wide ICT programs and projects
  • Deliver a digitally enabled and integrated systems for uplift and improvement initiatives
  • Reporting to the Capability Practice Director to ensure that Capability area can deliver both workforce capacity and competency to meet and exceed the expectations of the Directorate.

About You:

  • Strong background in leadership with a passion for leading a large team of Program & Project professional's and enhancing the expertise in Program & Project Management
  • Thrives on building a high performing team by using their coaching and mentoring capabilities to engage, motivate and develop staff
  • Extensive leadership experience leading high-performing specialist teams, with the ability to influence, build strong capabilities and develop talent, including resource planning and management experience
  • Qualifications in the relevant discipline (i.e. Program and Project Management) with proven experience in developing, implementing and reviewing innovative best practice approaches, templates, methodologies and tools to optimise organisational outcomes
  • Government experience and background is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
