Cyber Security Engineer

The Opportunity

We're seeking a hands-on Cyber Security Cyber Security Engineer / Analysyt to join a major Cyber Uplift Program focused on improving the organisation's cyber maturity and reducing technology risk.

This is not a traditional Cyber Security Engineer role. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of technical cyber initiatives, work autonomously within a small team, and drive delivery from analysis through to implementation. You'll be comfortable rolling up your sleeves, engaging with technical stakeholders, and progressing multiple cyber hygiene initiatives simultaneously.

The initial priority will be leading a large-scale legacy operating system remediation program, identifying unsupported Windows environments, developing treatment plans, and coordinating upgrades or replacements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of cyber uplift initiatives from analysis through to implementation.
• Review legacy Windows operating systems across the environment and develop remediation and treatment plans.
• Coordinate operating system upgrades, replacements and decommissioning activities.
• Drive cyber hygiene initiatives that improve the organisation's overall security posture.
• Review privileged access accounts and support Privileged Access Management (PAM) improvement activities.
• Support the implementation and maturity uplift of the Essential Eight framework.
• Analyse security logs and work closely with SIEM platforms to improve monitoring and visibility.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and operational teams to deliver multiple concurrent initiatives.
• Identify risks, track remediation activities and ensure delivery milestones are achieved.
• Contribute to improving the organisation's cyber maturity from its current baseline.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience delivering cyber hygiene or cyber uplift initiatives.
• Strong experience reviewing and remediating legacy Windows operating systems.
• Experience developing remediation or treatment plans for unsupported infrastructure.
• Practical understanding of the Essential Eight maturity model.
• Experience reviewing privileged access accounts and identity security controls.
• Exposure to SIEM platforms and security log analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams within a small, agile team.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to drive outcomes with minimal supervision.

Highly Desirable

• Experience working on enterprise cyber uplift or security remediation programs.
• Broad technical capability across multiple cyber security domains.
• Experience working within government or large enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of vulnerability management and infrastructure remediation.
• Experience improving cyber maturity frameworks.
