Morgan McKinley are partnering with an Australian Insurance firm looking for 2 x Compliance Specialists on an initial 3 month contract, with the potential to extend. The company offers hybrid working 3 days in the Sydney CBD and 2 from home.
You will operate as a key member of the Risk and Governance function in this 2nd Line role. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will partner with the business to ensure all legal, regulatory, and internal policy obligations are met. Your role is instrumental in fostering a robust compliance culture, managing incidents, and providing expert advice on the interpretation of complex regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and research laws, regulations, and internal policies to maintain an accurate obligations register and support business units in day-to-day compliance.
- Assist in conducting compliance risk assessments and develop monitoring plans to evaluate the effectiveness of the control environment across the business.
- Perform rigorous testing and assurance of controls, preparing detailed reports for senior management and the Head of Compliance.
- Lead investigations into reportable breaches, performing root cause analyses and advising the business on necessary process improvements.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external agencies to influence a positive risk culture and ensure alignment with the organisation's risk appetite.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of related experience in compliance or risk frameworks, ideally within the insurance or government sectors in Australia.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Deep understanding of the Australian Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA) is essential.
- Proven ability to analyse complex information, manage compliance management strategies, and deliver high-quality reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work together with diverse stakeholders to solve problems and meet shared organisational objectives.
