Internal Auditor - Retail

About the role

  • Reporting to the Audit Manager - Stores, you will support the delivery of Internal Audit objectives, which are providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve the organisation's operations;

  • You will also bring a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and test the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management and governance processes;

  • Leading and conducting assurance engagements, supporting management in delivering the annual audit plan;

  • You will be commercially minded and an experienced Internal Auditor employed on a permanent basis;

  • You will be charged with ensuring that the internal audit activity remains free from interference by any element in the organisation, including matters of audit selection, scope, procedures, frequency, timing or report content to permit maintenance of necessary independence and objectivity;

  • You will be responsible for partnering with the business and Risk management teams to lead this work.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute individual store / hotel audits identifying and assessing key risks in operational controls;

  • Support delivery of focus audits assessing the design and / or operating effectiveness of key controls;

  • Interpret data to provide valuable insights to management;

  • Complete root cause analysis of internal control breakdowns;

  • Perform timely follow up of issues to ensure agreed actions have been effectively implemented;

  • Identify, recommend and support operational improvements in Internal Audit's own processes and tools;

  • Act as an ambassador during audit engagements and whilst engaging with various levels of management;

  • Keep abreast and share knowledge of business developments and initiatives; and

  • Actively contribute to the audit plan and positive team culture.

The successful candidate

  • 3 years' multi-site retail experience in management or an operations support role;

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business related discipline;

  • Ability to interpret & analyse data;

  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and curious nature;

  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment and to deliver quality outcomes and meet deadlines;

  • Display strong business acumen and in depth knowledge of operational processes and their interrelation;

  • Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking capabilities;

  • High standard written & verbal communication skills and the ability to engage and build relationships with key stakeholders;

  • Willingness to learn or develop greater understanding of audit methodology;

  • Must be able to travel at least one week per month intra and interstate.

Location

The role is based in Brisbane. Flexible working arrangements, including remote working, are actively supported and encouraged.
