On Thursday, September 6th, we gathered at “Inataya” in Otemachi, Tokyo for an discussion event.
The discussion was on healthy vs smart organizations with our community of Sr. Finance professionals. Smart organizations refer to those focused on speed and processes, while healthy refers to teams that work as a unit and trust each other to push towards a common goal. It was a great opportunity for professionals with similar backgrounds to discuss key issues and solutions to the problems faced on a daily basis.
The 4 main questions we posed were:
- How do you build trust and cohesion in your team?
- How do you achieve clarity of direction and goals in your team?
- How do you use repetition to ensure teams understand clarity of direction and goals?
- What systems are in place that will remind and bring clarity to direction and goals?
We divided into 4 groups to discuss the issues faced and potential solutions for each of the core questions above. Answers were varied from specific action points to movie references (Star Wars), however overall there was agreement on the importance of health in an organization; as opposed to only focusing on speed, strategy, systems, or processes.
Due to the popularity of the event, we hope to plan similar events more often to include everyone interested.
As always, please let us know if we can be of assistance in your careers or for hiring within your teams and look forward to connecting with you soon.
