Financial technology - growth areas in 2017

Global investment in the Financial Technology (Fintech) sector has increased exponentially and we are forever seeing new start-ups entering the market. Large multi-national organisations are waking up to the opportunity and investing huge amounts of capital in the sector. Japan’s unique market conditions, regulatory requirements, and concentration of financial players presents an interesting set of challenges and opportunities for fintech entrants. 

This event aims to provide an insight into the fintech industry in Japan and suggest areas of opportunity for professionals working within this space. It will also highlight the skill sets required to forge a successful career within the industry. 

Jonathan Epstein:
CEO, Credorax. Mr. Epstein has over 20 years in Japan in a range of senior positions in banking, technology, and payments. He was formerly head of Paypal Japan and now manages Credorax.

Sanjuro Takeuchi:
Country Manager at IHS.Markit. Oversaw the merger of both entities in Japan in 2016. Investment Banking background; prior to Markit he was Managing Director within RBS’ Structured Product Marketing Group. 
Pieter Franken: Director & Senior Technology Advisor, Monex Group

Director & Senior Technology Advisor, Monex Group. In addition to his IT leadership role in Monex, Mr. Franken is also an advisory member of the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Jonathan Hope:
Co-Founder & CEO, Keychain. Mr. Hope worked in Bloomberg and Goldman Sachs prior to coming to Japan to develop the market gateway business for investment banks. He currently focuses on blockchain technologies for authentication and confidentiality in the financial services industry.
Pieter Franken: Director & Senior Technology Advisor, Monex Group

Genki Oka:
CEO, Ant Financial Japan. Prior to joining Ant, Genki was the Chief Global Strategist for SoftBank Group International based in Silicon Valley. He spent a decade at McKinsey & Company as a Partner focusing on cross-border engagements.
