Commentary on Consultancy and Professional Services in Financial Services Roles and Remuneration in Tokyo for 2018
The professional services continue to grow in Japan, as organisations look to advisory and consulting support to adapt their businesses to an increasingly competitive and complex operating environment. This could not be truer than for financial service institutions, who are struggling to keep pace with new technologies and evolving regulations. Most professional services firms are looking to take advantage of the increased demand. Aside from the traditional management and business consulting areas, there is growth in technology and regulatory/compliance consultancy because of the aforementioned reasons. The organisations looking to capitalise on the increased demand range from smaller 'boutique' firms to larger management consulting organisations as well as Big 4. All offer very different opportunities for professionals looking to work in this space.
Despite the continued growth, salaries have been more stable this year. Many organisations appeared reticent to offer the big increases in salaries that we saw in 2015 and 2016, when the growth in consulting and advisory services was in full swing. Salaries in the assurance divisions have been relatively stable.
Commentary on Consultancy & Professional in Commerce & Industry Roles and Remuneration in Tokyo for 2018
Areas such as tax and audit within public accounting firms have continued to be stable throughout 2017. Most of the growth we have seen has been on the advisory side, particularly within the Big 4. Language skills, relevant qualifications, experience in JGAAP/US GAAP/IFRS are the main criteria that are looked for along with sector experience in area's such as automotive, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and financial services.
