Job Summary
A Live Listening Typist provides real-time transcription and note-taking support by listening to live conversations, meetings, interviews, calls, or events and accurately typing the spoken content. The role requires excellent listening skills, fast and accurate typing, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain focused in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Listen to live audio from meetings, calls, interviews, conferences, or events.
- Accurately type spoken conversations in real time.
- Produce clear, grammatically correct transcripts and notes.
- Identify speakers where required and maintain formatting standards.
- Edit and proofread transcripts for accuracy and completeness.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
- Meet productivity and turnaround time targets.
- Use transcription software, headsets, and typing platforms efficiently.
- Communicate with supervisors or clients regarding unclear audio or project requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
- Strong listening and concentration skills.
- Good written English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with transcription or captioning software is an advantage.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in transcription, captioning, administration, customer service, or data entry preferred.
- Experience working with live audio or remote communication platforms beneficial.
