Have you ever been extended a job offer and immediately been overcome with a sense of “Is this really what I want?” Here are some thoughts that have probably crossed your mind after receiving a job offer and tips how to deal with them!!
“What will my manager think?”
If you have a good relationship with your boss, then this has probably been something you have thought about for a while now. Most of us will hand in our notice at least once in our lifetime, it’s becoming more and more common now with millennials moving jobs every one to two years. My advice would be to be honest when handing in your notice and once you have made your decision, stick to your guns or chances are you will be back looking again in at least 6 months.
“Can I get a better offer here or elsewhere?”
Every situation and job offer is different. If you are using a recruitment agency, chances are they have probably already pushed for the best package possible. Before making your decision to reject any offer, ask your recruiter their opinion. ‘Do you think there is any room to negotiate here?’ Their honest answer could be the difference between getting your dream job offer withdrawn or gaining a little extra for a rainy day.
