Brexit is coming.
So with the doom and gloom that seems to be permeating in the media, I chose to take a very practical approach in viewing just how buoyant the market is from the perspective of the Supply Chain team here in Morgan McKinley
The Morgan McKinley Supply Chain team is the country’s largest, dedicated Supply Chain recruitment team with individual consultants focusing on specific areas of the market. I myself focus on Production, Manufacturing and Lean disciplines. These disciplines like many others at the moment are under a shroud of doubt due to uncertainty surrounding how the market may fair post-Brexit, deal or no deal. Noel Edmunds however, has never to my knowledge worked on a production line, so I think we should proceed with the facts.
Given that we work with some of the country’s most successful SME’s and MNC’s alike across the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, FMCG and Electronics industries, our activity can be seen as a good barometer of the strength & confidence the market has in the Irish economy.
To give you an idea of this confidence, we have compared Quarter 1 of 2018 with Quarter 1 of 2019 to see just how worried we all should be. The idea being that if businesses have concerns regarding the strength of their market they would temporarily hold on hiring, or at least keep it at a similar level to 2018.
This however, is not the case. In the first Quarter of 2019 the Morgan McKinley Supply Chain team has seen a 26% increase in our live roles which would indicate growth in major areas of the Irish economy. Not only that, we have also seen an increase in the number of happy candidates we’ve assisted in finding new roles. This number has increased by over 25%.
These figures, along with Ireland’s lowest level of unemployment in 11 years confirms that we are seeing confident, focused hiring plans across the board.
As highlighted, there are plenty of reasons for optimism. We have a variety of live roles in some of the best businesses nationwide. Crucially however, we are seeing the strong commitment required from hiring managers to make job offers both efficiently & effectively when they find the right candidate for their business.
