Commentary on HR Roles and Remuneration in Ireland for 2018

It’s been an interesting year for HR recruitment in Ireland. Dublin & Cork in particular have been leading the way in terms of hiring trends particularly within banking, financial services, technology and FMCG sectors. 

The HR market in 2017 has seen continued demand for strong operational HR professionals such as HR administrators, generalists and business partners to work with the business to provide a full suite of HR services to their business units. Hiring in the HR sector tends to be seasonal with hiring decreasing during the summer period and this again was the case in the summer of 2017 where hiring slowed during the months of July and August. 

We’ve seen many companies in 2017 utilise HR technology such as SAP, Workday, CoreHR systems as they upgrade or modernise how they analyse HR data and manage performance within the business. 

Talent attraction is key on the HR agenda for the majority of Irish businesses not just in 2017 but into 2018 and beyond. With this in mind, companies hiring HR business partners or HR managers have a particular interest in hiring talent who have focused on employee engagement and well-being as they ensure talent retention and reduce attrition.
 
The majority of HR departments have been focused on developing strategic plans around engaging employees, harnessing successful and positive working environments and promoting a culture of worklife balance - these are all key areas for a strong  EVP (employee value proposition) and talent attraction.
