Unleash "Next Level" Team Performance
As part of our 2019 Espresso Workshop series, in conjunction with Process 2 Customer Consulting Group (P2C), we hosted the session “Next-level Team Performance”. It was great to see a huge resonance and need in the topic of taking action to develop essential team skills that can be applied in respective workplaces immediately.
Our clients had a very interactive hands-on PDCA workshop where the latest Lean and Design-Thinking tools were used to identify and improve team performance issues. A few volunteers partook in a practical case study of empowering teams through a”right skills/ right habits” approach by:
Identifying their current and real team performance issues
Prioritising in terms of impact and selecting one for further analysis
Using Lean Thinking methods to get beyond the symptoms and understand the causes
Using Design Thinking methods to understand requirements and develop “right skills/ right habits” solutions
Identifying how to measure the business value created from this approach
Understanding how to provide sustained support to ensure this leadership stays in the “true strategic” zone.
Through that, it was identified that the main cause of dysfunctional teams was the lack of understanding of team goals as a whole. Solutions were bounced back and forth with a few being being clear on what ‘done’ means, setting clear and specific roles within the team and educating stakeholders.
