Mephisto S.A. was established in Sarrebourg, France in 1965 Martin Michaeli, the founder and chairman of the company. Company philosophy is “To make the world’s finest footwear using the local labor and materials only from North America and Europe”. Production sites are in France and Portugal. 85% of the annual production volume is exported to 62 countries. In 1985, Mephisto Japan was established as Mephisto S.A.’s first overseas subsidiary company. Mephisto Japan has 25 Mephisto Shop-in-Shops in major department stores through-out Japan, and have over 130 shoe retailers as business partners.
